Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2

On 18 November 2001, I began my review of the first Harry Potter movie: "It's difficult to separate the film of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone from Harry Potter the phenomenon – that astronomical budget; the producers' worldwide deal with Coca-Cola; the billion dollars-worth of associated merchandise; the actors' complaints of being exploited by Hollywood; the declaration by its director, Chris Columbus, that JK Rowling's novel merited the respect accorded to Shakespeare; the endless opinions on its significance ranging from world premiere guest Brooklyn Beckham to newspaper moralist Melanie Phillips."

The Harry Potter books are a mishmash of myths ancient and modern, pulling in everything from Dickens to Wagner, the New Testament to Superman, with Harry as Christ, King Arthur and Clark Kent. What Rowling's books also emphasise is an essential Britishness that has been partly maintained in the films through local casting involving almost the whole British acting profession. Not surprisingly, the final film ends with a coda set on King's Cross station 19 years later, as the grown-up Harry, Ron and Hermione send their own children off to board at Hogwarts.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has dispensed with the amusing whimsy involving its eccentric staff that lightened the earlier films, and it takes its sense of mission very seriously. First, the film is thankfully free of songs, either comic or sentimental. Second, when this epic odyssey began, I raised the question as to whether the Harry Potter films would endure as well as The Wizard of Oz.

Transformers 3 : Dark Of The Moon 2011, The Movie With 3-D Artistry

Transformers 3 Dark Of The Moon (2011)

The Michael Bay-directed sequel has grossed $64.7 million since debuting at Tuesday-evening sneak peeks. Thursday update:
Michael Bay's third "Transformers" movie grossed $37.3 million at the Wednesday box office.
The original 2007 "Transformers" also debuted with sneak peeks and grossed $36.7 million over its first 36 hours.
At a 36 percent 'fresh' rating on Rotten Tomatoes, "Dark of the Moon's" soft reviews have been better than the terrible ones given to "Revenge of the Fallen" (20 percent).
With Bay's 3D achievements also receiving solid word-of-mouth, the film has grossed 60 percent of its initial revenue through the format -- a solid performance, given that the 3D revenue percentage has hovered in the 40 percent range for most in-format films released earlier this summer.

After seeing the third installment in Michael Bay‘s big-budget blockbuster action film franchise, Los Angeles Times film critic Betsy Sharkey writes in her review that “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” takes the audience on a romp, delivering excellent 3-D, a cleaner story and more eye candy than its critically panned predecessor.

You must wacth it now...This is the best movie of this year....

Cars 2 Movie 2011 Review, Cars 2 Game Download Coming Soon

Cars 2 Movie 2011 Review :

In the world of Cars and now Cars 2, there live only transportation vehicles, no humans. All the cars, trucks, planes, trains, boats, etc. talk and have human personalities. Their world is just like ours, only with a machine industry spin (for instance, there’s a movie called The Incredimobiles instead of The Incredibles. Get it?).

I’m fully aware the Cars movies are supposed to be fun, silly and are aimed chiefly at kids and families, but alas, their world is simply one I cannot accept. It leaves me with too many burning questions. For instance, how did the very first car come to be? Who built it? How are the cars able to feel? Do they reproduce? Give birth? Who constructed all the buildings we see in these movies, like the Leaning Tower of Pisa? Are we supposed to believe a car did all that?

You’re probably thinking I have no business asking such questions about a movie with talking cars in it, not least because it makes no claims to be realistic, and because its primary function is to awaken the child inside me. But as an adult, I can’t help but crave some level of rationalism and ask why things are the way they are. I suppose I could have looked beyond all this if the Cars movies did a better job of winning me over with their stories, but here we are.

How could Pixar go so wrong with the Cars movies when they went so right with Toy Story, Ratatouille and Up, among others? The Cars movies seem to be the only instances where the filmmakers patronize the audience with cheap humor and puns instead of original, emotionally charged stories that are creative and unexpected. It’s rare to call a Pixar movie trite and predictable, or worse yet, cheap and derivative, but that’s unfortunately what Cars 2 is.

Like the original, the sequel is mostly a series of tired jokes and routine misadventures that drive the plot around a hackneyed moral lesson. Kids will probably love it in spite of this because it’s got bright colors, fast action and all their favorite characters are back from the first movie. But I think they would have liked it even more had it told a more imaginative story. All people appreciate good stories, and kids are simply little people. Movies like Cars 2 shouldn’t sell them short.
